MAYA 3D Animation Class in Salt Lake City, Utah

Animation Tutoring, a MAYA 3D Character Animation Class taught in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Learn from a Salt Lake City, Utah based Working 3D Character Animator

Do you want to work for a Game Studio or a Feature Animated Film Studio but have no idea what to do to get there?
Have you taken 3D animation classes and learned nothing but the basics of the program?

I’ve animated over twenty minutes of lead characters on two soon to be released animated feature films.
I have a contract to work on a third next year. I can teach you everything I know about animation.

Character Animation is a difficult skill to master. It takes a great deal of time and effort,
but If you’re dedicated, I can help guide you along the path of learning.
Below is an outline of how I can help you become a great animator!

Beginning Animation

Weight, Timing, Squash and Stretch, follow through.

Using simple forms we’ll study the physical interactions of weight and mass.
We’ll explore the lagging effect of inertia called follow through as well as
the compression and expansion of squash and stretch.

Intermediate Animation

Body Mechanics, Line of action, Silhouetting, Arches, and Reversals.

Starting with the feet and hips we’ll apply the principles we just learned to the more complex human body.
Now we’ll be ready to add concepts such as, Line of Action, Silhouetting, Arches and Arch reversals.

Advanced Animation

Acting, Staging, Secondary action

Using the techniques mastered in intermediate animation
we’ll explore building the performance of a fully fleshed
3D character. We’ll also explore the polishing animation pass
where we’ll add, follow through, secondary action and
finess the motion envelopes.

Class Schedule

Classes are held one night each week on tuesday from 7-9 pm. The first hour is lecture,
the second hour is lab time where I’ll review your animation assignments as you’re
working on them or assignments from the previous class.

Cost

Each course, (begining, intermediate and advanced) is broken into two months segments.
The cost of each segment is $180.

Course Work

You should expect 5-10 hours of animation assignment work each week outside of class.
Completing the assignments is essential to progressing through the course.

Your assignments are your Demo Reel. I cannot overstress the importance of a quality demo
reel. A degree won’t get you a job. A quality demo reel can. The purpose of this course is to
get you to the point where you have a solid demo reel ready to submit to Game Studios or
Feature Animation Studios.
